The Affiliate Summit East 2018 conference will take place in New York City from July 29 – August 31. This event typically attracts over 5,500 attendees who will be able to visit three exhibition areas filled with 300 booths of vendors, merchants, technology providers, digital agencies, and other affiliate marketing experts.
If you are interested in finding more eCommerce leads, then the Affiliate Summit is the place to be. Attendees are offered multiple tracks of educational sessions, specific to their field. There will be ample time and activities for networking, including online tools to assist attendees in connecting with others before, during, and after the event. Plus, sponsors and exhibitors have the opportunity to directy connect with eCommerce leads, and the List Genius tool can be helpful during preparation.
There are three types of passes for the conference: VIP, Networking Plus, and Networking. Be prepared for three days full of educational sessions, speakers who are industry leaders, roundtables, and Keynotes, at one of the largest tradeshows in the country, all while the exhibition halls are open for your perusing.
If you are new to the Affiliate Summit conference and tradeshow, there is a Newcomer Program that will introduce you to an Affiliate Summit veteran. The conference veterans will share their past experiences, ideas, and information to help newcomers make the most of their time at the conference. While the 2018 speakers have not yet been announced, last year’s conference featured an esteemed speakers in the industry to share perspectives, best practices and their experiences with attendees.

The Affiliate Summit is being held at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, but if you would like to stay elsewhere, there are plenty of other hotels in the area including:
The Westin New York at Times Square (0.2 mi) – Although pricey, this hotel offers every amenity you can imagine, including spa services, 24-hour fitness center, a highly regarded restaurant and bar, and it is very close to the conference venue.
Hilton Times Square (0.3 mi) – Located in the heart of Times Square, this upscale high-rise is newly renovated and has spectacular views of the city.
Holiday Inn Express 5th Ave (0.4 mi) – If you are looking for a sophisticated but affordable place to stay, this high-rise hotel is it.
Royalton New York (0.5 mi) – This moderately priced boutique hotel is just half a mile away from the conference venue and just steps away from several New York landmarks and shopping.
The Hotel @ Times Square (0.6 mi) – This boutique hotel is a little bit farther away from the venue, but it offers a warm, living room feeling at a much lower rate than the others. It is still just a short walk from Times Square and Rockefeller Center.
If you are looking for somewhere to gather after the daily conference activities are finished, you will find no shortage of places to hang out, debrief, or discuss new ideas. Whether you want a fun and lively scene, or a quiet meal, there is somewhere nearby. Here are a few choices for you to consider:
Carmine’s ($$) – This family-style restaurant is the perfect place to eat and hang out with a larger group and enjoy traditional Italian food in fun surroundings.
O’Donoghue’s Bar & Restaurant ($$) – Stop by the newest addition to the Times Square area for drinks or a delicious meal. The atmosphere combines Big Apple excitement and old Irish warmth.
The Houndstooth Pub ($$$) – If you are looking for an upscale Gastropub, look no further. Serving comfort food at affordable prices, the Houndstooth is the place to unwind.
Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House ($$$) – This upscale steak house is a luxurious three-story restaurant with scenic views and an extensive wine list.
The View Restaurant and Lounge ($$$$) – Located right at the Marriott Marquis, where the Affiliate Summit is being held, The View is New York City’s only revolving restaurant. You can eat world-class American Cuisine while taking in amazing views of the city. You will need to make reservations here.
The weather at the end of July and beginning of August in New York City is typically warm and muggy. The average high temperature is around 81 degrees and the low is around 67 degrees, but it can feel much warmer because of the humidity, which can be any from moderate to high. Be sure to bring an umbrella because moderate rain and thunderstorms are typical at this time of year.
Making your way around New York City is fairly easy, and most locals will help you out with directions. The easiest way to get around is on foot. New York City, especially Manhattan, is the best option for those who want to experience all of the details of the city.
If you have a group of 2-4 people, taking a taxi is a good way to go. The fares are reasonable and taxis are readily available, although with traffic they are not always the fastest.
If you want to get a real feel for New York, you can take the subway. Millions of people use it every day and it is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
While you’re in New York City for the Affiliate Summit, take some time to see the sights Manhattan has to offer – and there are many! You can’t leave without seeing these:
Central Park – Even if it is muggy outside, you will want to visit the nation’s most well-known and beloved park. While you are there, you can visit the Central Park Zoo, ride the carousel, or rest and relax under the trees.
Empire State Building – View New York City and beyond from the 82nd and 102nd floors’ observation decks. You cannot visit New York without seeing this iconic part of the New York skyline.
Times Square –See why they call New York City the “City That Never Sleeps” when you visit Times Square. There is always something to see, whether you want to shop, eat, drink, or sightsee.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art – If you enjoy art, or just need a little bit of quiet down-time, The Met on 5th Ave is the perfect place for you.
The Statue of Liberty – Lady Liberty is something that you just can’t miss. You can decide if you want to view her from afar, or get up close and make the trip to her crown.
